What is the best way to evaluate the uterine cavity for infertility and particularly before IVF?
Take Home Lesson
- Hysteroscopy is more accurate than HSG for the uterine cavity
- HSG overall agreement with Hysteroscopy is 69%
- HSG false-negative rate is 78%
- HSG false-positive rate is 16%
From this study, the answer is clearly hysteroscopy. Remember that the HSG is still useful for the tubes, which the hysteroscopy does not evaluate. SIS (saline-infusion sonogram) not evaluated in this study is also useful and similar to hysteroscopy, in my experience.
